History:

In 1997, IBM, The United Way of America, and AmeriCorps*VISTA announced a program called Teaming for Technology. Formed as a response to America's Promise, the partnership is designed to develop strong leadership and technological skills among nonprofit organizations.

Currently, Teaming for Technology is working with social service agencies in 16 communities across the United States to help enhance their competency in technology so that they can better deliver services, manage costs, and maximize their effectiveness. AmeriCorps*VISTA Volunteers have been assigned to local United Way offices in the communities served by the program.
